Testimonials What patients and doctors say about Mission Cataract USA Ron from New Jersey Thank you for your interest and encouragement... The surgery went without a glitch. Dr. Spear is a relaxed and self-assured surgeon who inspires confidence - a very generous man indeed. I was more than a little nervous at first [I've never had surgery in my life] but the attending nurses who prepped me for surgery assured me that there that there was nothing to worry about. Needless to say I was amazed afterwards at how well I could see again. On my post-surgery follow-up visit, I was told that there was very little inflammation on my eye and that it was healing rather well for barely a day after surgery. The examining physician was shocked to find from my chart that my vision had been 2400 prior to surgery. All in all, my experience at the Northern New Jersey Eye Institute has been very positive. My pre-surgery checkup was very thorough and I was highly impressed with all the technology being used. I was treated with respect and without any prejudice due to my status as a Mission Cataract sponsored patient. Again, thank you Sheree and everyone at Mission Cataract USA for making it all possible. ~Ron Melissa from California When Melissa, a young woman from southern California, contacted Mission Cataract USA last year she touched the heart of Sheree Petree, executive director. Melissa had just become engaged to a wonderful man, but her wedding day would not be perfect because her mother was blinded by cataracts and would be unable to see Melissa walk down the aisle. Melissa wanted more than anything for her mother to see her walk down the aisle. Sheree contacted Mission Cataract doctor. Robert Fabricant, director of Pacific Eye Institute in Upland, California, and he performed free cataract surgery on Melissa’s mother. Here’s what Melissa’s mother says: Dear Mission Cataract USA, Words cannot begin to describe my gratitude to Sheree Petree and Mission Cataract USA for helping me regain my failing eyesight. Back in September of 2005 I was diagnosed with cataracts in both eyes and was devastated. My eye doctor had said that I would require surgery to remove the cataracts, but financially I knew this would be impossible. What was even more devastating is my daughter Melissa is planning on getting married sometime next year in 2008 and I knew that at the rate my eyesight was failing, I would be blind by then. Unable to see her walk down the isle. My daughter began researching on the Internet. Finding your organization, she emailed you regarding my situation. What a blessing from God it was to hear that not only would I be able to get my surgery done, but it wouldn't cost me anything! I have had my right eye surgery done on March 1st of this year 2007, and plan to get my left one done next year. To regain my freedom and Independence back is a blessing beyond words. Not only that, but now I get to see my daughter get married. I pray that Mission Cataract USA be blessed by God for not only helping me and countless others regain the gift of eyesight but more importantly, the gift of freedom.
